Korean men’s tennis was eliminated from the group stage of the먹튀검증 Davis Cup Finals, a national competition.
Serbia defeated Spain 3-0 in the Group C match of the 2023 Davis Cup Finals group stage held in Valencia, Spain on the 15th (local time), and first and second places in Group C went to Serbia and the Czech Republic (two wins above). Korea and Spain were eliminated with two losses.
The Davis Cup Finals is a ‘Tennis World Cup’ in which the world’s round of 16 is divided into four groups, and Korea advanced to the world’s round of 16 for the second consecutive year since last year.
This year is the first time that Korean men’s tennis has advanced to the round of 16 of the Davis Cup for two consecutive years.
If Spain had caught Serbia that day, they could have had a glimmer of hope of advancing to the quarterfinals if Korea won in the Korea-Spain match held on the 17th, but Serbia won and confirmed their advancement to the quarterfinals along with the Czech Republic.
Serbia’s Novak Djokovic (No. 1), who won the US Open last week, appeared in the second singles and defeated Spain’s Alejandro Davidovic Fokina (No. 25) 2-0 (6-3 6-4). Djokovic did not play in the game against Korea on the 12th.
As a result, Korea will have to pass the finals again to return to the 2024 Davis Cup Finals.
